Group Short-Term Disability Details

- An employer-paid, short-term disability insurance plan. All eligible employees must participate.
- Three options are available – the difference between each option lies in the date that the disability benefits begin. The employer chooses start date after a disability, and whether the benefit is based on a percentage of the employee’s salary (60% or 70%) or a flat amount not to exceed 70% of an employee’s salary.
- The maximum benefit payable is $750 per week, though a lower maximum (in increments of $50) may be elected. All benefits are payable up to a maximum of 26 weeks.
- Weekly income excludes earnings from overtime, bonuses, commissions or any other form of additional pay.
- No benefits are paid for disabilities eligible under Worker’s Compensation or a similar law.
- Employees must be actively employed on the effective date of coverage.
